Terms and Conditions of Participation

• 1- Conditions of the Official Monodrama Competition

   

  • The submitted production must fulfill the fundamental elements of monodrama in terms of dramatic writing, performance, directing, scenography, and audio-visual composition, ensuring the artistic integration of the work.

  • The production must demonstrate outstanding artistic and creative quality, presenting a fresh and innovative dramatic approach while addressing a theme or issue of human, intellectual, and artistic value.

  • Scripts written specifically for monodrama, as well as adapted scripts, are accepted. The participating entity or theatrical group bears full responsibility for the rights of the scripts and materials used.

  • The production must be characterized by innovation and originality, avoiding conventional approaches that lack creative vision or artistic distinction.

  • Productions produced during 2025 and 2026 are eligible for participation.

  • Productions that have previously participated in any past edition of the Fujairah International Monodrama Festival may not be resubmitted.

  • The duration of the production must be between 35 and 50 minutes.

  • The production must be performed exactly according to the version viewed and approved by the Viewing and Selection Committee.

  • Selected entries across the festival’s various categories must include subtitles.
  • The performance must avoid addressing controversial intellectual, political, or social issues.
  • The performance must respect general cultural and social values and must not include any content that violates the laws and regulations in force in the United Arab Emirates.
  • Selected performances will be subject to a preview screening before the official performance date.

   

   

• 2- Obligations of the Festival Management

   

  • Providing travel tickets for the members of the participating group, up to a maximum of five individuals per participating production.

  • Providing accommodation and hospitality for the approved delegation for the duration determined by the festival management.

  • Providing the basic technical requirements for the production according to the capabilities and specifications approved by the festival management, and in accordance with the nature of the designated theatrical space.

• 3- Obligations of the Participating Group or Entity

   

  • Bearing the costs of shipping and transporting the sets, props, and equipment required for the production from the group’s headquarters to the departure airport, as well as upon return.

  • Specifying the type of theatrical space required to stage the production, along with all necessary technical requirements.

  • Adhering to the information and technical specifications outlined in the application file, including the script, set design, props, costumes, lighting, special effects, and scenography elements.

  • Presenting the production exactly according to the version viewed and approved by the Viewing and Selection Committee.

  • Bearing full responsibility for all intellectual, literary, and artistic property rights related to the script, production, music, images, and any other materials used.

  • Complying with all organizational, technical, and administrative instructions issued by the festival management.

   

• 4- "Fujairah: An Open Stage" Performances

  This track is dedicated to performances presented in open and public spaces within the Emirate of Fujairah, and includes:

  • Street theater and performing arts in open spaces.

  • Street theater performances must not exceed 30 minutes in duration.

  • Solo comedy performances.

  • Performance art and physical theater.

  • Spectacle, heritage, and folkloric performances.

  • Promotional and performative acts suitable for the nature of open spaces and the general public.

   

• 5- Conditions of Participation in "Fujairah: An Open Stage"

   

  • The performance must be suitable for presentation in open and public spaces and capable of direct interaction with the audience.

  • The performance must align with the nature of the location designated by the festival management.

  • The performance must avoid controversial intellectual, political, or social issues that are inappropriate for public spaces and the target audience.

  • The performance must respect general cultural and social values, and must not contain any content that violates the applicable laws and regulations of the United Arab Emirates.

  • The participating group must adhere to the technical and organizational specifications determined by the festival management for each location.

• 6- Application Dates and Procedures

   

  • The submission period for participation in the 12th edition begins on September 23, 2026.

  • The deadline for receiving applications is December 31, 2026.

  • Applications received after the specified deadline will not be considered, except in cases where the festival management decides otherwise.

  • The Viewing and Selection Committee is responsible for reviewing the submitted files and productions, and selecting those that fulfill the required artistic and creative criteria.

  • The decision of the Viewing and Selection Committee is final, and the festival management reserves the right to reject any production that does not meet the required artistic standard.

• 7- General Rules

   

  • Submitting an application does not constitute final acceptance for participation in the festival.

  • Participation is considered final only upon the issuance of an official notification by the festival management.

  • The festival management reserves the right to determine the dates and locations of performances and rehearsals according to the festival’s general program.

  • The festival management reserves the right to amend the dates or locations of performances when necessary for organizational or technical reasons, with prior notification to the participating groups.

  • All participating groups must comply with the applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines of the United Arab Emirates.

  • The participating entity bears full responsibility for the accuracy of the submitted data, information, and documents.

  • The festival management reserves the right to cancel participation if it is proven that false information was provided or essential information was concealed.

  • Replacing members of the approved delegation after the issuance of travel tickets or the finalization of participation procedures is not permitted, except with the explicit approval of the festival management.

  • The festival management reserves the right to use photographs, recordings, and media materials related to the performances for documentation, promotional, and media purposes.

  • Any matter not explicitly addressed in these provisions is subject to the discretion and organizational decisions of the festival management.

• 8- Application File and Required Documents

  The participation application must include the following:

  • A completed participation form, signed by the entity or individual responsible for the production.

  • A complete copy of the theatrical script.

  • A valid online link to view the full production throughout the evaluation and selection period.

  • A synopsis of the production not exceeding 500 words.

  • High-quality photographs of the production and the official poster, if available.

  • Personal photographs of the participating delegation members.

  • Clear copies of the delegation members’ passports, which must be valid until December 31, 2027.

  • Full technical and production specifications for the performance.

  • Any additional materials or documents requested by the festival management or the Viewing and Selection Committee.

• Q: Does submitting an application guarantee participation in the festival?

  No. Submitting an application is considered an initial submission for review and evaluation. Participation becomes final only upon the issuance of an official notification by the Fujairah International Monodrama Festival management.

• Q: What is the final date to submit an application?

  The deadline for receiving participation applications is December 31, 2026. Applications received after the specified deadline will not be considered, except in cases where the festival management decides otherwise.

   

• Q: Can the application be modified after submission?

  Please review all information and attachments before the final submission. If you need to make a modification after submission, you must contact the festival management and provide your application reference number.

   

• Q: What is the maximum duration for a monodrama performance?

  The duration of the performance participating in the official competition must not exceed 50 minutes.

   

• Q: Is it permissible to submit a production that has previously participated in the festival?

  It is not permitted to resubmit a production that has previously participated in any edition of the Fujairah International Monodrama Festival.

   

• Q: How many members are allowed in the participating delegation?

  The festival management provides travel tickets for a maximum of five individuals per production participating in the official competition, and for three to five individuals for productions participating in the “Fujairah: An Open Stage” track.
